Movember

Ceredigion Penfro MS, Paul Davies, has welcomed representatives from Movember to the Senedd this week as part of his continued efforts to raise awareness of prostate cancer and the importance of improving men’s health.

Mr Davies sponsored a stand for Movember at the Senedd’s Farchnad on Wednesday 16th September, providing an opportunity to highlight Movember’s work to improve men’s health through research, awareness campaigns and programmes supporting men affected by prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health challenges.

The issue has particular personal significance for Mr Davies, who is himself living with prostate cancer.

More than 2,600 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year in Wales, while more than 32,000 men across the country are living with and after the disease.

Mr Davies said:

“It was a great pleasure to sponsor Movember and welcome the team to the Senedd. Movember has done an enormous amount to put men’s health firmly on the agenda, funding vital research and developing programmes that can make a real difference to people’s lives.

“As someone living with prostate cancer myself, this is an issue that is incredibly important to me personally.

“More than 2,600 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year in Wales. Behind every one of those diagnoses is an individual, their family and their friends, and it’s so important that men are aware of their health and feel able to talk about their concerns and seek advice.

“Talking openly about prostate cancer and men’s health can help break down some of the barriers that still exist. I’m committed to doing everything I can to raise awareness and support organisations like Movember that are working to improve outcomes for men.

“I’d encourage people across Wales to find out more about Movember, the work they do and the different ways they can get involved and support the movement.”

Movember funds prostate cancer research and develops support programmes designed to improve outcomes and quality of life for men affected by the disease.
