Bronglais Hospital is the only District General Hospital serving Mid Wales, providing vital care to the whole of Ceredigion as well as parts of Powys and south Gwynedd. Its role is central to the health, safety and resilience of communities across a large and predominantly rural region.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is now considering changes to the way stroke services are delivered. Currently, stroke units operate in several hospitals across west Wales. Under proposals agreed for consultation, a single specialist stroke unit would be based at Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen. Bronglais would instead provide a “treat and transfer” service.

We are seeking your views on these proposals and on what they could mean for patients, families and the future role of Bronglais Hospital.

1.Over the years, a number of services have been centralised towards Carmarthenshire, forcing some patients to travel further to receive treatment. Have you been impacted by these changes?
2.The Hywel Dda University Health Board wish to move stroke services from Bronglais to Glangwili. Do you support this?
