Current Election Campaigns

2012 DYFED POWYS POLICE AND CRIME COMMISSIONER ELECTIONS

Preseli Pembrokeshire Conservatives would like to thank everyone participated in the campaign to elect Chrisopher Salmon as the first Police and Crime Commissioner for Dyfed Powys.

In a straight fight between the Labour candidate Christine Gwyther who polled 31773 votes, Christopher Salmon polled 32887 votes resulting in a majority of 1114. In Pembrokeshire Christopher gained 9888 votes whilst Christine Gwyther polled 7739 votes. The overall turnout for Dyfed Powys was 17.1%, in Pembrokeshire the turnout was 19.6%, one of the highest turnouts in England and Wales.

Despite the low turnout across England and Wales, Ploice and Crime Commissioners are an imporatnt reform to our local governement and like all changes they are controversial. Christopher is determined to work to ensure that the role becomes an influential, respected and most importantly effective position.

Across the Dyfed-Powys area the hard work of members and friends really paid off. Christopher ran an excellent campaign but without everyone who gave up their time to help during the campaign and without the excellent support we received from Cardiff it could easily have been a different result. Once again many thanks.

2012 COUNTY COUNCIL ELECTIONS

Preseli Pembrokeshire Conservatives would like to thank all the candidates who stood in the recent Local Elections, and everyone participated in the campaign to increase our representation on Pembrokeshire County Council.

Unfortunately our represenation fell from 5 to 3. David Howlett being returned unopposed, with Cllrs Stan Hudson and Owen James retaining their seats as Welsh Conservatives.

All the Welsh Conservative Candidates worked incredibly hard and the support given by Stephen Crabb and Paul Davies throughout the campaign was second to none. No other Party has worked harder or had a better team of candidates, it is just a shame that this was not reflected in the results on May 3rd.

2011 WELSH ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS

Preseli Pembrokeshire Conservatives would like to thank everyone who participated in the recent Assembly Election campaign. Once again your hard work really paid off with Paul retaining the Assembly seat polling 11541 votes gaining 42.4%, of the vote share an increase of 3.8%, and a majority of 2157.

Across Wales, Welsh Conservatives increased their share of the vote to win in Labour's key target seats of Aberconwy, Preseli Pembrokeshire and Camarthen West and South Pembrokeshire.

Welsh Conservatives also made gains from all parties and now hold more Assembly constituencies than ever before and increased our number of seats to 14, overtaking Plaid Cymru to become the second largest Party.

The result in Preseli Pembrokeshire could only have been achieved by the huge team effort involving a great many people. Once again the contribution that Association members and other volunteers made each day was remarkable. Thank You to everyone who helped during the campaign.

2010 GENERAL ELECTION

The Association would like to thank everyone who participated in the recent General Election Campaign. Your hard work really paid off with Stephen retaining the seat with 4605 votes and 42.79% share of the vote.

We hope that everyone who helped in the campaign both members and non members will share the excitment of seeing a Conservative Prime Minister once again in Downing Street. The circumstances may be rather different than what we hoped for but the truth is that, following the election result nationally, this coalition government is the only practical option for achieving stable government in the months and years ahead.

There will be many challenges ahead, but it is in the clear national interest for us to support David Cameron as he leads this new government.

The result in Preseli Pembrokeshire could only have been achieved by the huge team effort involving a great many people. The contribution that Association members and other volunteers made each day was remarkable. Once agian Thank You to everyone who helped during the campaign.

2009 EUROPEAN ELECTIONS
